Improved clearance rate at DBS October Yearlings

The three day DBS October Sales began with a day of yearlings that attracted a good crowd to the DBS Sales Complex that resulted in a lively trade for those on offer with 159 yearlings selling for a total of £515,250 at an improved clearance rate of 68%.

The day was topped by a racy son of Aussie Rules who formed part of a draft from Cloverdale Bloodstock. The colt comes from the first crop of the Group 1 winning miler and attracted plenty of interest from around the ring but it was John Quinn and Robin O'Ryan who made most of the running before the hammer came down in favour of agent Bobby O'Ryan who was bidding on behalf of an existing client and paid £25,000 for the grandson of Danehill.

A son of fellow Coolmore sire High Chaparral realised the second highest price of the day when selling to James Delahooke for £18,000. Consigned by Mill House Stud, the February born colt came from a top class American family and was bought on behalf of owner Peter Makin. He was the high point of a profitable day for Mill House Stud who also sold a Kyllachy half sister to the Group 3 winning Millennium Force to trainer David Pinder for £17,000 and a racy Diktat colt to trainer Bryan Smart for £14,500.

'We are perfectly satisfied with the trade given the current economic climate as it seemed to reflect similar recent sales held elsewhere'
