Cheque Payments
New purchasers wishing to pay for Lots purchased by cheque should obtain a written reference from their bank for the maximum amount required and lodge it with the Cashier in the Auctioneers' Office prior to bidding.
Cash Payments
UK Law requires Purchasers to provide proof of identity and address when making cash payments of €15,000 or more (or the sterling equivalent). DBS will require to take copies from the originals of the following documents:
- Proof of Identity: Passport or photographic Driving Licence.
- Home Address: A telephone bill, a bank, credit card or store card statement, a council tax bill or any other utility bill. The document must be an original dated within the last three months and show your surname, initial or first name and full current address. Copies of the above documentation will be retained on file by DBS.
Credit Card Payments
Payment for Lots purchased may be made by credit and/or debit card (subject to acceptance of the type of card). Purchasers should contact the Cashier in the Auctioneers' Office regarding this method of payment and should inform the card provider prior to sale to avoid delays. Please note that all transactions must be authorised with a PIN number. DBS regret that a surcharge of 2.5% for commercial cards, 2% for credit cards and 40p for debit cards will be added to the appropriate amount. These are the rates charged to DBS by the credit card companies.
