The DBS Spring Horses-in-Training Sales contains the finest selection of Horses-in-Training and Point-to-Pointers and the catalogue will be strengthened by a number of Supplementary Entries, which will allocated to the best Horses-in-training and Point-to-Pointers sourced between the publication of the catalogue and the start of Sale. The quality that is available is highlighted by the dual Grade 1 winning TIDAL BAY, who appears on the front cover of the catalogue. He has been the stable star for Graham Wylie and Howard Johnson this year and has long been touted as a champion in the making. He has done nothing to dispel this title and is an extremely exciting horse to follow next season.

TIDAL BAY was placed in the Grade 2 John Smith's Champion Bumper at Aintree before topping the Sale in 2006 and CHARITY LANE (643) comes to the Sale with a similar profile. He was trained by George Moore to easily win his first Bumper at Haydock before coming home 31 lengths in front of his rivals in a similar contest at Ayr. He then ran a fine race to finish a close sixth at Aintree and looks to be a top class horse for the future. He finished one place ahead of PETERS PRIDE (683) at Aintree, who was the easy nine length winner of his first start at Catterick. He will be consigned by Thorndale Farm, along with KATAPULT (682), who was the impressive eight length winner of his first start at Catterick before running in the Aintree contest.
TIDAL BAY was consigned to DBS by Mr George Charlton and they will consign another Bumper performer with a big reputation. RANDOLF (393) was second in his first Bumper at Newcastle before finishing a close second in a similar contest at Wetherby. He is thought to improve when taking to hurdles and is sure to attract plenty of attention when he comes under the hammer. VACARIO (79) won his only Bumper start at Hereford by over three lengths for Charlie Mann and the four year old will be an exciting prospect when running over hurdles next season whilst MEWSTONE (699) won her second Bumper start at Uttoxeter, having been placed second on her debut at Chepstow for Tom George.
ONE COOL COOKIE broke the record for the highest priced Point-to-Pointer in 2005 after winning a Maiden Point-to-Point at Dromoland and went on to win the Grade 1 Powers Gold Cup at Fairyhouse. ONE COOL KNIGHT (436) comes to the Sale with a comparable record after winning his only point-to-point at Ballindenisk by ten lengths for Jason Titley and is sure to have a top class future ahead of him.
The Knockanglass Stables consigned DUNKELLY CASTLE (371) comes to the Sale with a big reputation, having won a Four-Year-Old Maiden point-to-point on his first start at Monksgrange by a distance before winning again at Roscommon, whilst OUT NOW (375) was the easy five length winner of his first start at Rathcannon before following up in a Winner of One at Summerhill for Roger McGrath. The Loughanmore Stables consigned STROKESTOWN (425) has an exciting future ahead of him after the son of KAYF TARA came second at Loughanmore before winning by two lengths at Loughbrickland.
ANY CURRENCY (381) looks to be a star in the making after the Rathvin Stud consigned five-year-old destroyed his opposition in a Point-to-Point at Lemonfield by ten lengths after running a close second on his debut. SHAKING HANDS (147) won his first start at Loughbrickland for Gordon Elliot by two lengths and is sure to have a big career under National Hunt rules, whilst JUSTFORTHESAKEOFIT (364) would have a similar future after following up his success in a Maiden Point-to-Point at Monksgrange by winning a Winner of One Point-to-Point at Roscommon for Denis Murphy.
The Conna Stables consigned BAY CHERRY (498) broke his Maiden at Lisgoold before winning a Winner of One at Killaloe by four lengths and is sure to be popular whilst DEFINITE APPEAL (103) will be another to attract plenty of attention after performing a four length victory in a Four-Year-Old Maiden at Roscommon before running a close fifth in a competitive Bumper at Limerick for William Murphy. TINAKELLYLAD (329) will be consigned by Rathvin after winning his Four-Year-Old Maiden at Kilmallock by two lengths, whilst WASNTME (104) will be consigned by Church Farm Stables after the son of FLEMENSFIRTH won on his first start at Charm Park before winning a Restricted Point-to-Point at Hornby Castle.
IGNOTUS (681) will be consigned by Thorndale Farms as part of the annual dispersal from Matthew Green and the six-year-old is sure to be favoured after he won the Grade 2 Premier Hurdle at Kelso before following this up with an impressive five length victory at Chepstow. Another with recent top class form is MISTER WATZISNAME (117), who will be consigned by Camas Park Stud. The six year old son of KING'S THEATRE was second on both his Point-to-Point starts before winning the Grade 2 Byrne Group Novice Hurdle at Punchestown and will be an extremely exciting prospect when he goes Novice Chasing. HIMALAYAN TRAIL (430) will be consigned by Craiglands Farm Stables and is another unexposed sort after demolishing his opposition in the Listed Midlands Grand National at Uttoxeter by 22 lengths on his last start. He looks sure to feature highly in the top staying races next term and is 25-1 to follow up this victory at Aintree next year.
The annual dispersal from the Million in Mind Partnership has yielded the Grade 2 winning AFSOUN and the multiple Grade 1 winning VOY POR USTEDES in recent years and the 2008 draft includes PARSOU (400), who was a close fifth in the Grade 1 Prix Ferdinand Dufaure Steeplechase before coming over to the UK and connections believe that they have not yet seen the best of him.
Champion Trainer, Paul Nicholls' Manor Farm Stables will consign a draft of 20 that includes the four time winning BEAU MICHEL (387), the Grade 2 Intermediate Ascot Chase winner CERIUM (612) and the Grade 2 Henry VIII Novice Chase winner, MARODIMA (616), who won a Novice Chase at Wincanton on his most recent start. The annual dispersal from TIDAL BAY'S owners Andrea and Graham Wylie includes ACT SIRIUS (171) who was an easy recent winner of two Novice Hurdles at Musselburgh. Sandhill Racing Stables will consign a draft of nine that includes SPUD (605) winner of a Bumper at Worcester before winning on his first attempt over hurdles at Uttoxeter
The Juddmonte draft is always well received at Doncaster and their 2008 consignment includes an unraced OASIS DREAM Colt (702), who is out of a half sister to dual Group 1 winning MATIARA whilst Kingsley House Stables will consign PETROSIAN (670) who looks to have a future under both codes.
VOY POR USTEDES was sold at this Sale in 2005 before winning three times at Grade 1 level and his Grade 2 placed half sister, EN LA CRUZ (419) will be sold as part of the 18 strong Sir Robert Ogden draft and is sure to attract plenty of attention from breeders. Pond House Stables will consign another winning Mare with a top class pedigree as SARATOGANE (673) is a half sister to LOUGH DERG, winner of the Grade 1 Long Walk Hurdle at Ascot. Goldford Stud will consign two other mares that will appeal to breeders as LUNAR PATH (184) is a half sister to five Black Type horses and was placed third in the Listed Prix Durtain Hurdle. She is joined by her four year old NIGHT SHIFT half sister (183).
