A fine start to 2012: Champion Court wins the Grade 2 Dipper Chase


Champion Court put in a gallant front-running performance under Alain Cawley to land the Grade 2 Cheltenham Pony Club Raceday Novices' Chase (Registered As Dipper Novices' Steeple Chase) at Cheltenham. The Martin Keighley-trained seven-year-old son of Court Cave won the Grade 2 Hyde Novices’ Hurdle at the same venue in 2010 and the winning jockey said after the race:

‘It is very good for Martin and I am very grateful. His jumping was outstanding today and he was very gutsy.’

The win saw Champion Court's odds for both the Grade 1 RSA Chase and the Grade 1 Jewson Novices' Chase at the Cheltenham Festival contract. He is as short as 16-1 for the RSA Chase and was also given a quote of 14-1 for the Jewson.

Champion Court was the impressive winner of a Bumper at Kilbeggan before he was sold by Mr John Rabbitte from Stonefield to G.H. Bloodstock for £130,000 at the DBS Spring HIT Sales 2010.


  • Listed Victory for Hoku in Norway

    Premier Yearling Sales graduate Hoku claimed her first Stakes win at Ovrevoll in Norway last night when beating the older horses in the Listed Lanwades Stud Stakes.  Trained by Bent Olsen, the three-year-old daughter of Holy Roman Emperor raced in the UK last year before being taken to Europe and last night’s success came at just her second start for her new stable.  Hoku is owned by Stall Cambre and was purchased by David Redvers from Grange Hill Stud at the 2012 DBS Premier Yearling Sales for £14,000. To view Hoku’s pedigree, click here. Premier Yearling Sales: 26-27 August.
