A fine start to 2012: Champion Court wins the Grade 2 Dipper Chase

Champion Court put in a gallant front-running performance under Alain Cawley to land the Grade 2 Cheltenham Pony Club Raceday Novices' Chase (Registered As Dipper Novices' Steeple Chase) at Cheltenham. The Martin Keighley-trained seven-year-old son of Court Cave won the Grade 2 Hyde Novices’ Hurdle at the same venue in 2010 and the winning jockey said after the race:

‘It is very good for Martin and I am very grateful. His jumping was outstanding today and he was very gutsy.’

The win saw Champion Court's odds for both the Grade 1 RSA Chase and the Grade 1 Jewson Novices' Chase at the Cheltenham Festival contract. He is as short as 16-1 for the RSA Chase and was also given a quote of 14-1 for the Jewson.

Champion Court was the impressive winner of a Bumper at Kilbeggan before he was sold by Mr John Rabbitte from Stonefield to G.H. Bloodstock for £130,000 at the DBS Spring HIT Sales 2010.
