Finian's flies home at Kempton

Leading Champion Chase contender Finian's Rainbow made his first start of the season a winning one with victory in the Grade 2 Desert Orchid Chase at Kempton.

The Nicky Henderson-trained eight-year-old, who runs in the colours of Michael Buckley, was gifted an easy lead on his first run since he won the Grade 1 John Smith's Maghull Novices' Chase at Aintree in April.

The winner is now a general 7-1 chance for the Grade 1 Queen Mother Champion Chase at the Cheltenham Festival and he will likely test his Cheltenham credentials in the Grade 1 Victor Chandler Chase at Ascot on January 21.

Finian’s Rainbow was sold by Harveystown Stud to T Mahony for €8,000 at the Goffs Land Rover Sales 2007.
