Bobs Worth enhances DBS/Newbury partnership


Bobs Worth kept his unbeaten record over obstacles intact when he collared the front-running Cue Card in the final stride of the Grade 2 Fuller's London Pride Novices' Chase at Newbury Racecourse. The son of Bob Back was having his first start since winning the Grade 1 Albert Bartlett Novices Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival last year and after the race trainer Nicky Henderson, who was winning this for the third time in four years, said a clash with Grand Crus in the Grade 1 Feltham Chase at Ke

"He will come on a lot and learn a lot," Henderson said. "Barry said even over the wings of the last he was always going to get there. The Feltham has got to be on the agenda now and if we run into Grand Crus then so be it but he is not a certainty to go there. I was in no rush to start at three miles but we're heading that way."

Bobs Worth was cut to as short as 6-1 for the Grade 1 RSA Chase at the Cheltenham Festival and the six year old was by Barry Geraghty from Gaulstown Farm to Highflyer Bloodstock/Nicky Henderson for £20,000 at the DBS Spring Store Sales 2009.

    Excitement is building ahead of next week’s DBS September Sales (3-4) which will offer one of the top 2014 European two-year-olds in Kool Kompany on Thursday at Lot 305A.  The Middleham Park raced colt was purchased at the 2013 DBS Premier Yearling Sales by Peter & Ross Doyle Bloodstock for £40,000 and has been making headlines since winning on debut in April earlier this year.  The son of Jeremy won his first three starts in succession, culminating in the Listed Alfred Nobel Rochestown at Naas (video below). He attained his first Group 2 victory in the Railway Stakes at The Curragh in June (video below), beating War Envoy and Cappella Sansevero who sold to Sheikh Fahed Al Thani for £1.3 million at the Goffs London Sale just two weeks before.  Kool Kompany then made it back-to-back Group 2 victories when traveling to France and producing a tough performance to win the Prix Robert Papin at Maisons-laffitte (video below) before finishing a close second in the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes at The Curragh on August 10 (video below).  Kool Kompany will be sold with entries in the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes, Group 1 Middle Park Stakes, Group 2 Mill Reef Stakes and Group 2 Champagne Stakes. To view his pedigree, click here.
