Six figure top price at inaugural Newbury Sale

27/11/2010

The first sale to be held at Newbury Racecourse attracted a top price that eclipsed last year’s sale when Bygones In Brid was sold for £100,000. The son of Old Vic had won a competitive Mussleburgh Bumper by 8 lengths and he attracted plenty of interest from the collection of purchasers who braved the elements after racing on Hennessy Gold Cup but it was Highflyer Bloodstock who had the final say when Anthony Bromley signed the docket for an owner with Alan King.

The second highest price was achieved by Zama Zama who had won a Junior Bumper at Warwick for Kevin Ryan and was again bought by Highflyer Bloodstock. The son of Sakhee will now go in to training with Nicky Henderson having been bought by Michael Buckley for £85,000

Presenting was the sire in demand for the unraced stock and the NH Breeze Up section was topped by a Kennycourt Stud offering that was bought by Highflyer Bloodstock for £65,000. He was bought for Trevor Hemmings and will go to his son’s Hazel Court Stud before a trainer is decided for the three year old.

The second highest price was also a son of Presenting and was offered by Oak Tree Farm. The three year old came from a prestigious French family and was bought by Dai Walters for £50,000 and will go in to training with Tim Vaughan.

Following the conclusion of the sale, DBS Managing Director Henry Beeby said:

‘Tonight’s DBS Future NH Stars Sale at Newbury has made a solid start with a huge crowd in attendance and there is little doubt that this venue has enormous potential for this kind of after racing boutique sale. The Newbury management have been extremely helpful from start to finish and we expect to be back here on a regular basis.’
